Prostate Cancer Support Windsor/Essex (PCSWE)
December 2025 Communique
We hope that everyone is looking forward to a white Christmas and to many days of frolicking in the snow. We had an excellent meeting in November that included a presentation by two students from University of Windsor on their prostate cancer research.
We will NOT be meeting on Tuesday 9 December, but instead, we will be having our annual Christmas spaghetti get-together at Legion 594 (Howard Ave) on Tuesday 16 December starting at 5:00 p.m.
Please remember that we do NOT meet in January, so our next usual Hospice/ZOOM meeting will be on Tuesday 10 February 2026.
TUESDAY 16 DECEMBER 2025 5:00 P.M. CHRISTMAS SPAGHETTI DINNER

On Tuesday 16 December, we will be having our annual Christmas Spaghetti Get-Together at Legion 594 (Howard Ave), which coincides with that Legion’s bi-weekly all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner that is open to the public. Please remember that we will NOT be meeting at the Hospice on Tuesday 9 December.
As always, the Legion takes great care of us and will set aside a dedicated area for our group. Please plan to arrive around 5pm and grab your $10 ticket, grab a plate of pasta, and head on over to our area. This is also a pot-luck for dessert, so please bring something if you are able.
GROW ON WINDSOR CAMPAIGN

Grow On Windsor is a signature campaign of the Windsor Cancer Center Foundation.
Launched in 2014, men from our community participate by disregarding their shaving regimen, and growing a beard to raise funds and awareness for local cancer care. While we love the beards, Grow On Windsor is also an opportunity for anyone to team up and raise funds through friendly competition and month long promotions.
We were pleased to work with the Grow On Windsor Campaign, during the month of November, raising funds for the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation, who graciously supports us all year by funding our incidental expenses (printing, supplies, speaker honorariums, etc.).
Our thanks to our PCSWE Team members, Garry L., Wayne Z. and Jim F. and the dozens of PCSWE members, family and friends who have donated over $7,000 to date this year! If it slipped your mind, there’s still time to donate at this link:

WINDSOR POLICE vs FIREFIGHERS ‘BATTLE OF THE BADGES’ CHARITY HOCKEY GAME

Our group has been invited to participate in the upcoming Police vs Fire charity hockey game called ‘Battle of the Badges’ (www.playforacure.ca/badges) on Wednesday 4 February 2026 at the WFCU Centre. We will be setting up and manning our awareness booth for the event.
The main objective of this event is to bring the community together to support what we do, as a community, to support cancer patients. The Windsor Police and Windsor Fire will be putting together their best rosters to put on a competitive game that will entertain the crowd.
You can participate by spreading the word about this new event and purchasing a ticket to attend.

Arlen Tools & Machinery Charity Golf Tournament Raises $13,700 for PCFC!

We’re thrilled to share some incredible news from our community partners at Arlen Tools and Machinery. Their dedicated team recently hosted a charity golf tournament that raised an outstanding $13,700 in support of Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada (PCFC) and our local chapter, Prostate Cancer Support Windsor/Essex. At the cheque presentation, The Support Group had the privilege of attending on behalf of PCFC alongside fellow prostate cancer survivors and Support Group members Jim Fair, Wayne Zimney and Murray McLennan, as well as Dr. Ron Sorensen, local Urologist and advisor to the group. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the members of the Windsor Support Group for attending and representing the strength of our community. And, of course, an enormous thank you to Arlen Tools, Canam Tools, the Arlen Tool Group, and their staff for their generosity, hard work, and commitment to supporting men and families impacted by prostate cancer.
